Gah!

See, I was working today on an entry about The Evils of This World, but then I got so boringly uninspired (see also: tomorrow's entry) that I began to work on one of my projects. This project is called The Mix CD I'm Taking Fife Thousant Years Sending To Eva. I have been deliberating long and hard about what to send her--and have consulted scholars and fools alike--because I want to send her songs she will LOVE, but also songs she may not have heard yet. Because, if you remember, she sent me a CD of Niko that has become a new flavorite and I wanted to return the favor, see? Anyway, I'm usually ON what Eva writes the second she writes it, and then go back forty-seven times per day to check on updates, because why use the buddy list shimmy when people may update and then delete *coughbluecough* or I get all exciting seeing their name in red that they have updated and then I had already read that update? No, no, I avoid that kind of false advertising when it's so much easier to give into the OCD and check sites fourteen times, yes? In truth, though, I had trusted Eva to post her updates in a *previously agreed upon convenient place* but We can't trust Eva. No, brothers and sisters, we can't trust Eva-the-untrustable! Because she tagged me, unbekownst to moi, and meanwhile, I'm all "And another thing that's evil..." when instead I should have been following her directive to write about music, when in fact, I was thinking about music and Eva at that very moment, see? Witness people: that is just another example of the witchy ways my powers work. Eva may claim it's an example of the way her powers work, but we've already established that we can't trust Eva, yes? and I'm telling you it's MY powers, mm-kay? Alright then. Let's move on.
1) What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
Peeps be talkin' in GBs and shit? Like I would know what that means. I'd say maybe in the ballpark of 400-500 songs? I've JUST gotten on the bandwagon of putting my regular CDs on the computer and for the last few weeks I've been cuckoo about downloading the free music (see also: idea stolen back when she was Trustable Eva) so maybe it's more?
2) The last CD you bought is:
Singable Songs for The Very Young by Raffi, with eternal classics like "I Wonder If I'm Growing" and "Peanut Butter Sandwich." Oh you meant for me? Did I mention the head-injury and memory issues before? No, sirious, I think it was Chocolate Factory, by R. Kelly. I heart pedophiles! No really, "Ignition Remix" got me so exciting when it first came out. OK, OK, I know that was like two-and-a-half-years ago, but I got lazy in the meantime.
3) What is the song you last listened to before this message?
"Electric Slide" by The Wildlife. Okay, wash away any preconceptions of The Electric Slide that this conjures up. Because it is SO not like that. No, really! Hokay, here's the editor's review: "Four snake-hipped San Francisco boys make musical weirdness you can kiss to. The Wildlife slay all post-Britpop competitors with their heavily delayed vocals and cutting disco-punk beats. If the Flaming Lips hijacked the Strokes' spaceship and crashed it into a women's shoe store, the Wildlife would be playing on the tape deck. It's definitely a different thing than anything you've ever heard but it's like everything you've ever heard." Wait, that doesn't do it justice either. Here's andreas' review when I sent it to him--he had to invent new words to describe it, peoples--he made up HAM as a means to describe this song: "This song is HAM. I love it! It is so uber-hip, like all williamsburg trustafarian." Oh, it's free and legit, bitches, and pretty good, so just download it already.
4) Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Like food, I tend to pick the same thing OVA and OVA and OVA again and then can't face it again for months. So it is with songs--it changes frequently. But recently?
a)"Mad as Hell" by Bottom Line (free)
b)"Chevrolet" by Taj Mahal
c)"I Got Your Man" by Lady Saw
d)"Another Day" by Crown City Rockers (free)
e)"Pavement Cracks" by Annie Lennox
I mostly don't know ANYTHING about music.
5) Who are you going to pass this stick to (three persons) and why?
Tricksy. Well, I'll stick this to, I mean pass this stick to Jenzy because besides being the best, she sent me awesome mixes for Christmas and I'd love to know what else is happening musically and otherwise in her life since December 26th; to Karen who listens to her favorite radio station all day but since I've never listened to it, I'm interested in what kind of music she really likes; and to Ann who deliberated long over an Ipod and some other new-fangled gizmo and I'm sure she has it loaded with some pretty different things, like "Tiny Bubbles".
There you have it. And we begin to rock. steady. Steady rockin' all night long.
